0.0.9 - Volume sliders, WASD, and more


Some biggish stuff this week:

  • Added an options menu where you can affect the volume levels of the game–just the usual master, music, and effects settings. These will persist between sessions; the config file is in %APPDATA%\Lamplighter.

  • Fuel wells now require activation to use. Instead of bumping into them, you’ve got to press space or the button on gamepad. This change was based on a trend in the feedback I was getting. No one mentioned auto-refill as a stand-out feature while several people wished it wasn’t there.

  • You can now move and navigate the menus with WASD on keyboard, in addition to the arrow keys.

Some bugs are fixed in this release–I think both were introduced in the previous patch.

  • You can no longer scare bats without fuel. I had just forgotten to add the has-fuel check to that interaction. (Having fuel means your lamp must be lit, if that wasn’t obvious.)

  • You can wake and startle bats on the other sides of rails again. This regressed because last week I fixed another bug where you could wake and startle bats through walls! The rails and walls were in the same map layer, so they had the same properties. Now there separate and behave correctly.

Other than that, I just did some maintenance stuff, like upgrading Godot, which shouldn’t affect the player experience at all. Let me know here or wherever you follow if you have any questions or issues. Thanks for playing!
