0.0.8 - Scare the bats! But also beware the bats.
Following some feedback from Discord member x34uvc, I added a way to get those pesky bats out of the way faster! Pressing spacebar (or button 1 on the gamepad) will swipe your lamp, frightening nearby bats into moving twice as fast as they normally do. The bats tend be ornery after you scare them so swipe again if you need to!
Additionally, I spiced up the whole swipe action a bit: the lamp swings and the light juts out in whatever direction you’re moving. I had wanted to make this change for a bit, just because it seemed like fun, so thanks again to x34 for a little extra motivation.
Re: the future of Lamplighter, I’ve been kicking around a few ideas. One was to take it into the 3rd dimension, but I’m not super experienced there. I also messed with normal mapping 2D visuals in Godot, but I ran into a few impasses (maybe bugs, maybe limitations?). Either way, for now, I think I’m going to stick with what I’ve got visually and just try to add more gameplay.
Keep a single, glowing eye out for more updates in the future, and thanks for playing!
