v0.7.0 Bug fixes + Steam features
The big thing I worked on this past week was getting Steam platform features in--which obviously doesn't mean a ton to you playing the itch.io release. It's all complete, though, which means back to more general features and polish before go live! There were a few all-outlets changes this week, though. Here, take a look:
- Fixed a bug where the gravity well pop noise would play even if SFX were disabled. Nothing much to explain. Was broke. Is fixed.
- Reworded and reorganized the stats menus for legibility. A few players helped out by letting me know they found the Stats menu confusing. I hope you'll find the new version more clear.
- Added markers that appear to show you where the waves were the moment you got a game over. Some of those same players expressed that they found it frustrating to lose the bit of information about where the waves were when the game ended. Maintaining that kind of history is important to me, so I added markers that show you where the wave edges were at the time your run ended. There's an option in the Options > Feel menu.
- Smoothed out the restart/return-to-title transition. There were some sort of poppy/snappy things going on in this transition that have since been ironed out. If you find anything else jarring about it, feel free to let me know.
The next few weeks are pretty much going to be polish, bug hunting, and adding some flair specifically around the stats tracking features. I also hope to added locally tracked achievements for the itch.io desktop builds (matching the Steam and Google Play builds).
Other than that, there's definitely some big news: I've got a release date nailed down.
The game launches July 31, 2020 here on itch.io, Google Play, and Steam!
I set the release date here on itch, so the purchase link is gone. Seems backwards, probably, but I plan on having a launch discount; I wouldn't have felt right having anyone pay full price when I know it's about to go on sale like that. So yeah, tell your friends, and get ready! The game is almost done! Thanks for playing!
