v0.6.0 Local Stats Tracking Added!
Convergence Compulsion » Devlog
This ended up being a surprisingly big set of changes. A couple of big features, and some minor cosmetic stuff--here's the details.
- The game now tracks stats locally. Including your total games played, points scored, waves matched, and some more detailed info about how you are using power-ups, your Convergence Compulsion history will be tracked locally under the new Stats menu. Mobile leaderboards and achievements can be viewed here as well.
- Pursuant of the above, the menus have been reorganized. In general, the menus are less wide and more deep, i.e. there are more sub-menus with fewer options in them. For example, music and audio toggles are under the Options > Audio menu. This seemed like a better option given the current menu UX , which limits the number of options you can see at once anyway.
- There's a new UI bit: the directional indicator. On by default, this arrow is drawn around the player sprite to show what direction your input is guiding you through the arena. The big aim here was to improve the sense of control and agency on mobile, but it has the same effect on desktop. If you don't want to use it, toggle it off under Options > Feel > Directional Indicator.
- The support option has replaced the feedback option. As the game approaches a 1.0 release, I've replaced the feedback menu with a link to the support form on epiblitkos.games. This is under the new About + Help menu. Using the in-game link will pre-populate some fields of the support form as well.
- Camera shake no longer exposes the edges of gameplay elements. Basically, all of color bits that grow and move now do the same things but in an area that's slightly bigger than the camera. The player and obstacles, along with the arena boundaries, have not changed in size, but when the camera shakes now, the extra space on the edges is filled with properly shaded and colored waves, etc.
Along with all this, I made a proper web page for the game on my own site. You'll notice the itch listing get a little thinner as I lean more on the new page as a home base for all things CC-related. More updates to come--and in particular, this is looking like it'll be Steam week. Not sure how testing for those builds will work, but if you're interested, tweet @epiblitkos_ or let me know in the community Discord. Thanks for playing!
