v0.0.2 is out! Try out the new movement!

I've been a bit sick this week, but I manage to get this week's update, v0.0.2, done today. There's two big things changed in this one: a bug fix and a gameplay change.

Fixed a bug on mobile where the UI draws in the wrong spot.

In particular, on screens that are larger than 1920x1080 and screens that aren't 16:9, the game is now properly centered on the screen. It also fills the screen along at least one edge of the screen now and letterboxes in the other. That way, the game isn't stretched and everything stays square. Likewise, the UI should be centered and only draw on the colored areas.

New Movement Implementation and the Playtesting Menu

I changed the way input effects your speed by default. It used to set your speed directly, but now it sets your acceleration. This gives the movement more weight, but it does mean that movement isn't exactly 1:1 anymore.

Additionally, I've added a new menu page on the title, pause, and game over menus where you can alter this setting. It'd be a huge help if you could compare the two and tell me which one feels better for you. I'll be expanding that menu to include everything I want to A/B test with you all.

This coming week, I want to work on making collisions feel better, so that will probably mean adding controller rumble and screen shake. Some of that same stuff should help make power-ups feel more exciting and substantial, too--so that might come next. If you want a free key for the alpha, consider joining the Discord--I post itch keys in there. Either way, I hope you'll check out the game. Have a good week everybody!
