About the Game
For this jam, I was a little concerned that I wasn't going to pick up on how to implement enough of the characteristics that are common to Michael's work, so I started from a game of mine that I felt was kind of close to a Broughlike already, then worked from there.
The result is a version of my Convergence Compulsion that I pulled closer to his 868-HACK, hence the name. In CC, you score by touching the wave that matches your color. It's real-time and probably a bit too frantic too early. Instead of worrying about matching colors, I use one wave and the player position to decide how the game iterates. Match on a blank, you simply score. On the triangle and the plus, you gain the corresponding power-up, too. On an X, you take damage. Three hits and it's game over. Try to rack up a high score and exit the last level!
There's a little more to it than that, but where's the fun in spoiling it all? I hope you'll enjoy 028-WAVE!

Install instructions
MacOS: This isn't signed or anything, so you'll have to tell Gatekeeper or whatever it's called to let you run it--if that's even a thing. (I don't use Mac, but Godot can export to it, so I figured I'd try.)
Windows: I built this on Linux Mint, but it ran fine in wine. YMMV.
